Overview
Our modules designed with the Christian in mind but can be useful for anyone interested in learning more about the foundations of the Christian faith. Who might be interested?
When you enroll, the courses will appear to be empty. Content will be visible at the appropriate time. You may enroll in as many courses as you like however a maximum of two is suggested. Generally, a minimum of 5 participants is required for a course to go forward. Enrollment fee will be refunded or applied to a different course if so desired if there are not enough participants. A maximum of 30 participants per course. If necessary, new sections of the same course will be added. We would be happy to offer courses to whole congregations or organizations at group rates. Take your whole community through the courses at the same time. We are looking for more modules to add. Suggestions are welcome. If you are a competent teacher and would like to propose one we'd like to hear that, too. We also offer a 'private group course' program where a group has a particular group all to itself. Youth group leaders will find this option to be especially appealing. In the closed setting of the course, young men and women can interact with their youth group leader and one of our trained facilitators. We can arrange to offer the class at a time most convenient to the group. Because of the higher demands on the facilitators and administrators, there is a slightly higher cost.
Enrolling Enrolling is easy. First, register for an account. You can do that in several ways. The easiest is to just use this sign up page.
That's it, you're enrolled in a class! Apologetics Certificate Program The AOA Apologetics Certificate aims to equip the student with the critical information to help them understand why Christianity is reasonable and respond to the challenges posed by the world at large, while laying the groundwork for future, independent learning. Students pursuing the certificate program must take 14 courses (up to 16 are included in the program fee). A minimum of 7 courses need to be at the 300 level. They may take a maximum of 3 courses at the 100 level. They must take Introduction to Biblical Greek. Remaining courses can be at the 200 or 300 levels. Students in the certificate program will also enjoy heightened interaction with the facilitators. While the academic standards are the same for those in the certificate program as regular participants, facilitators will apply more challenging questions and projects to those in the certificate program. The cost of the program depends on how many payments that are made.
To apply for the certificate program you must contact the director to begin payment options and discuss goals and objectives. Do not enroll for any classes. Your enrollment will be handled directly by AOA staff. However, if you would like to 'sample' our programs, first, you may take up to two courses at the normal rates and the tuition you pay for them will be credited towards the certificate program. This certificate can be obtained within 12 months if a student is diligent, but 18 months is more realistic. Participants have 3 years to obtain their certificate. Those enrolled in the certificate program are required to purchase Peter Kreeft and Ronald Tacelli's Handbook of Christian Apologetics: Hundreds of Answers to Crucial Questions Tuition Course costs are designed to be as affordable as possible.
Costs do not include materials.

Private Group Courses are available as well. Please click here to learn more about setting up a course open only to those you invite (such as your local youth group) at the time you wish to have the course. Courses are still led by our facilitators, if desired.
Private Courses We are very pleased to offer private courses for groups consisting of 5 or more individuals. These courses are adaptations of existing courses but restricted to only your group. In this private setting, individuals can work through the material in a safe, efficient manner. These private courses are especially attractive to youth group leaders who want to expose their group to important foundational information regarding the Christian faith and wish to have a more personalized experience. Another advantage to the private course program is that a time most convenient to the group can be arranged to hold the course. The courses allow students to participate at their leisure just like the normal courses but of course scheduled times where everyone is on can be arranged. $18 per person per week (4 week maximum). $50 set-up fee (waived for private groups larger than 15 individuals). 50% deposit with remainder paid halfway through the course. Additionally, courses are still facilitated by one of our competent staff members who are well versed in apologetical issues. Our private courses are great ways for youth leaders to give their youth the tools they need to counter the attacks they face already and those to come in the future. To sign up for a private course you need to coordinate directly with a staff member. (Why the extra cost? Customization and adaptation of the courses to your needs requires extra work from course creators and facilitators. Such courses will probably also require extra time and effort in engaging participants in the class itself.)
Are there Grades? No. There is no grading. However, the facilitators are very committed to helping each individual learn and grow through these courses, and an important part of learning involves feedback. With that in mind, you can expect that facilitators will provide quick and useful feedback on all assignments. This feedback may involve suggestions, thought-provoking questions, suggested additional readings, words of encouragement, or perhaps gentle corrections intended to help each person have a successful and rewarding learning experience.
What are Courses Like? Our courses are handled 100% online. You will most likely not need a microphone, but speakers and the ability to see videos will be helpful. There could be chat rooms or forum discussions and other forms of interaction, but most likely text based. Individual facilitators will have different approaches. Some will assign reading assignments and then discuss them while others will direct you to Youtube videos which may even be of the facilitator himself. Do you have to purchase the books? It is strongly suggested. Every effort is made to make it so that the Internet is the primary resource but in some cases that just isn't possible, or even if its possible, it is wise to have the book in hand.
Accreditation Athanatos Online Academy is not accredited.
